No amount of advertising, no matter how good it is, will help unless peoples experiences corroborate it

In the USA, candidates need huge funds to win elections. These funds come as campaign donations from big business mostly. When a candidate wins, he becomes a lobbyist for business interests, whether they lie within the US or outside it territory. It is these interests that influence decisions of the US government regarding other countries.

Have seen neither any advertisement prepared under the mentioned theme, nor noticed any difference in the perceptions about the US wherever I have travelled during the past year or so.

Only actions change perceptions.

Happiness is not something ready made. It comes from your own actions.

. .. and that where the world perceives the USA as lacking; or even worse, perceives the USA as working counter to the interests of their nations

There's another point of view. Nations, like individuals, are essentially selfish, and always stake for their own interest. They are not into the charity business at all.

Nations who crib about nations exploiting them should set their own house in order and aggressively safeguard their own interests.

I wish more people who bad mouth other countries, and ALL national leaders would realize it.

India has done somewhat well in safeguarding its own interests.

I think this is a very sound approach.

The trouble is the world's perception and the USA's claims are too far apart to be bridged solely by advertising creativity

The USA does need to take some concrete steps to modify perceptions about itself. Only advertising won't help.

May I remind everyone that nations, like individuals, act in self-interest.

Wouldn't it be more logical for those states who have grievances against the USA to be more mindful of their own interests and act accordingly.

Couldn't agree more. If the people are conscious of their interests and jealous about safeguarding it, no one can appropriate those, except by brute force.

In many developing countries the issue is awareness and education.  It is these that make people conscious of their rights.

. . . and brute force does not work indefinitely.  In Pakistan there have been four military take-overs of the country, yet every time they have had to return a semblance of power to civilians.
